Las Vegas Clinical Research Unit

PPD's hospital-adjacent clinical research unit in Las Vegas, Nevada, supports first-in-human through proof-of-concept trials in both healthy and patient volunteers. The clinic also offers services ranging from nonclinical consulting to protocol writing, protocol optimization, project management, laboratory services, monitoring, medical writing, data management, biostatistics and clinical pharmacology. The experienced team leading the clinic brings a depth of specialized expertise in early development studies. For example, the team is skilled in adaptive design, which uniquely positions the clinic to help clients make faster “go/no go” decisions of potentially transformative assets and to ensure a more efficient transition to later phases of development.

Conveniently located near the McCarran International Airport, the Las Vegas facility benefits from its proximity to multiple universities - including two medical schools - as well as six local research sites to optimize volunteer recruitment.

Prequalified volunteers receive a detailed explanation of the study requirements and known potential risks, and their questions are answered. Volunteers are then asked to sign the study-specific informed consent form approved by the institutional review board. Study volunteers are qualified for trial participation by the principal investigator based on a review of the subject's medical history, the results of a thorough physical exam and the required diagnostic tests.

Special Volunteer Populations

PPD's clinical research units are able to support special volunteer population study requirements including elderly, post-menopausal, poor and extensive metabolizers, obese and smokers.

Areas of specialty for the Las Vegas clinic include metabolism, NASH/NAFLD and obesity.

PPD's early development services team supports site identification, selection and management for patient population studies including but not limited to renal, hepatic, diabetic, neuroscience and abuse liability.
