PPD Participates in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

On behalf of PPD, employees in its Morrisville, North Carolina, office responded to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The company received the challenge from a competitor. Dan Burch, M.D., vice president, global therapeutic area head and PPD’s top neuroscience expert, led the company’s bucket brigade.

The challenge, which became a social media sensation in an effort to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water. Challenges are either accepted or a donation is made to an ALS charity, although both can happen. In addition to the video response, PPD made a corporate donation to the ALS Association.

The ice bucket challenge has created unprecedented awareness for ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and has raised millions of dollars for research. The challenge is still going strong, and you can read more about it here.
